Course review
An Art Schaupeter design (he also did TPC Colorado) built on the old Podtburg dairy farm in Johnstown. Preview play began in October 2025, with the full opening in spring 2026. It's a pure-golf layout: no hole has homes on both sides. About 200 ft of elevation change, roughly 48 bunkers, a big central pond, and views of Longs Peak and the Front Range. Bluegrass and rye fairways, 007XL bentgrass greens.
Strengths
- Three drivable par 4s (4, 9 and 14) and a Lido-inspired 17th with three routes over the ponds and creek.
- Real elevation for the plains: 11 climbs about 75 ft, and 16 and 18 fall 60 to 72 ft.
- Loops of 3, 6 and 9 holes back to the clubhouse make shorter rounds easy.
Watch for
- Wind on the open ridgetops, especially on 9 and 12.
- The uphill climbs on 8 and 11 play far longer than the card.
- The par 3s run from 107 to 261 yards, so club selection swings a lot.

About this flyover. Bella Ridge is brand new, and the public aerial photos and lidar were captured while the site was still a dairy farm. So the course here is drawn: fairways, greens, tees, bunkers, ponds and cart paths are painted from OpenStreetMap's mapping of the finished course, over the real surrounding photo. The terrain is USGS 3DEP lidar of the original ground, smoothed where farm buildings stood and with the ponds leveled. Shaping during construction changed some slopes, so the elevation figures in the notes describe the original ground and are approximate. Where the club has published a figure (like the climb on 14), the notes use that. Heights are exaggerated about 1.3 times. Trees are placed from the photo outside the course. The flyover shows four of the five tee sets; the scorecard lists all five.
