A city-run municipal course designed by Finger Dye Spann that plays tougher than its price. The front nine runs south from the clubhouse along Big Dry Creek, climbs to the high ground on 3 and 4, then drops back past wetlands to the lake on 9. The back nine sits across Washington St, winding between neighborhoods around two ponds, with big elevation swings on 10, 16 and 18.

Strengths

  • Real elevation for a Front Range muni. Hole 3 climbs about 46 ft, hole 5 falls about 65 ft, and 16 drops about 44 ft over 642 yards.
  • Big Dry Creek, wetlands, the lake and two back-nine ponds give the routing variety, and the greens are large and tiered.
  • Mountain views to the west from the high holes.

Watch for

  • Homes line most of the back nine and holes 3 and 5, so wide misses carry real risk.
  • Pace can drag on busy days, and conditioning reviews vary by season.
  • The hardest holes on the card are 9 (466 yards, lake left) and 16 (642 yards).

About these flyovers. Ground shape comes from USGS 3DEP lidar elevation and the ground photo is USDA NAIP aerial imagery, both public domain. The photo may be a few seasons older than the course today. Hole routing and tee and green positions come from OpenStreetMap, and their measured lengths match the card within a few yards. Heights are exaggerated about 1.3 times so slopes read on screen. Elevation figures in the notes are real, measured from the lidar. Trees are placed automatically from the photo, so a few may be missing or misplaced. Forward tees are placed at their card yardage along the line of play. The front and back nines come from separate photo captures, so color can shift slightly at Washington St.
